On my way up the ranks I’d worked with a few coaches, but with Kenny I got the most communication, the most analysis and, unsurprisingly, the best results. All of a sudden I found myself finishing races like the Ride London Classic in the Wiggins group.
At pre-season training camps I talked to other pros about their training plans and coach relationships and was in no doubt that I was at least on the level if not above it in terms of the training I was receiving.
Kenny was as important as each and every team member I shared the road with, and it was perhaps the closest relationship i had in cycling. I think that human element on top of the scientific approach made a big difference. I wouldn’t have anyone else in my corner.
